The service on the four lines of the Lisbon Metro resumed at 10:30 today after a partial workers’ strike, according to information available on the company’s website.
The Lisbon Metro service had been suspended and stations closed since opening time at 06:30, due to the second day of a partial workers’ strike, without minimum services.
The ML workers had already conducted a partial strike on Monday, which, according to Sara Gligó from the Federation of Transport and Communication Unions (FECTRANS), had “significant participation.”
The issues at hand include increases in meal allowances, holiday and Christmas subsidies, and changes to the maximum weekly working hours.
The workers decided to continue with the partial strikes scheduled for Tuesday and today after plenary sessions and meetings with the company.
The work stoppage was scheduled from 05:00 to 10:00 for operation workers, from 07:00 to 12:00 for maintenance sector workers, from 07:30 to 12:30 for fixed and administrative sector workers, and from 02:00 to 07:00 for night and track service workers.
On Wednesday, ML had urged workers’ representative organizations to suspend the partial strike scheduled for today, reiterating its openness to “serious and responsible” dialogue.
Lisbon Metro operates daily with four lines: Yellow (Rato-Odivelas), Green (Telheiras-Cais do Sodré), Blue (Reboleira-Santa Apolónia), and Red (Aeroporto-São Sebastião).
The service usually operates from 06:30, but the company noted that the strike was expected to delay the opening until around 10:30.
