“A good result would be electing many more people than in 2021, and I am sure we will achieve that goal, always with the ultimate aim of having people making decisions about local policies and thereby making a difference,” declared Mariana Leitão on the sidelines of the party’s candidacy presentation in Espinho, led by José Ilídio Sá.
Mariana Leitão described the municipal elections as “one of the great challenges” for the Liberal Initiative, stating that the liberals are “very focused” and expressing the “possibility” of winning the presidency of a municipality.
“We have the Braga City Council, where I am sure we can also achieve an excellent result, possibly even winning the council. We know it’s difficult, but it’s not impossible, and all the work that Rui Rocha has done in Braga has been aimed in that direction,” she said.
The liberal leader refrained from making extensive comments on a poll from two days ago that placed Chega ahead of the PSD and PS in a legislative scenario, with the Liberal Initiative behind Livre, only referring to “polarization.”
“Nothing is going wrong; the Liberal Initiative continues with all its commitment to the various challenges it faces, working diligently on proposals to change the country,” she said.
