“This is not just a vague designation or an expression; it is a commitment that allows us to advance further in our cooperation on cultural, economic, and developmental fronts,” stated Montenegro at the conclusion of his meeting with the outgoing Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, on the first day of his official visit to Japan.
The head of the government emphasized future areas of development in bilateral relations, including security and defense, new technologies, energy, and scientific knowledge sharing between educational institutions.
“This strategic partnership illustrates a common desire to work together, converge, and address our political, economic, and cultural relationship with a positive, efficient, and consequent purpose,” he said.
At the beginning of the meeting, Montenegro had already expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Ishiba for the words of solidarity conveyed to Portugal concerning the August fires and the recent Elevador da Glória accident, which resulted in 16 deaths.
