Future luxury hotel The Standard Lisbon planned for completion in 2026

The Portuguese construction company Ecoárea, owned by the Libertas Group, announced that it is undertaking the redevelopment of the former Hospital da Marinha in Alfama, a grand 19th-century building that served as a hospital for over 200 years. This site is set to become the luxurious five-star ‘The Standard Lisbon’ hotel.

Investment figures for the project were not disclosed.

The completion of the work is anticipated by 2026, with the hotel offering a total of 173 rooms, according to a company statement.

The company noted that The Standard brand, established in 1999 in Hollywood, has properties in locations such as Miami, Bangkok, and New York, and is now owned by the Hyatt Group.

“The ‘The Standard’ hotel chain is expanding internationally, and this rehabilitation project is entirely Portuguese in terms of both engineering and architecture,” it emphasized.

Ecoárea also reminded that it completed the ‘Palácio Santa Clara — The Standard Residences,’ a residential development and private condominium of 32 apartments, managed by The Standard, in October of last year.
