PSP Chief suspected in domestic violence case against family

A police chief from the Public Security Police (PSP) specializing in domestic violence is suspected of threatening his wife and in-laws with death.

The indictment by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) describes instances of verbal assaults, including violent death threats.

The husband allegedly said to his wife, a lawyer, over a decade of abuse, “Shut up! Let’s see if you want your face full of blood,” “This house will be the house of horrors,” “You’re an idiot, you’re absolutely useless,” and “This is a place that leaves no marks.”

He also allegedly threatened, “I want you and the boy home tonight. If you don’t come, it won’t go well! I’ll kill you! You better run because I’m going to kill you!”

The wife’s parents were reportedly living in “a climate of terror,” constantly fearing whether the threats would be realized.

The alleged victim reportedly fled to her parents’ house or stayed in hotels at times but always returned after receiving aggressive and threatening messages from her husband: “You and your family. Just crap. Stink from a distance. The other day I dreamed of dousing you with gasoline. You begging for life.”

On occasions, the man allegedly boasted to his threatened family of friendships with Public Prosecutors, aiming to deter any complaints.

The victim eventually found the courage, following an assault, to report the incidents at a police station.

The next day, police arrived to seize the suspect’s weapons, although he was a fellow officer. At the time, he was on psychiatric leave. He reportedly refused to surrender his weapon, telling his wife, “Even if they take the guns, there are always knives.”

The incident also prompted more severe threats, with the man suggesting he would commit suicide after killing his wife: “I’ll kill myself, but I’m not going alone.”

The suspect was charged by the MP on Monday, September 15, with domestic violence, nine counts of making threats, three counts of trespass, and one of physical assault.

He is currently under house arrest with an electronic bracelet.
