The U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) is set to announce its monetary policy decision today, with expectations pointing towards an interest rate cut of 25 basis points, the first since December 2024, according to analysts.
“We anticipate that the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) will reduce interest rates by 25 basis points (bps) at its meeting on September 17, raising the Fed funds target to 4.00%-4.25%,” predicts Michael Krautzberger, Global Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Public Markets at Allianz GI, in an analysis note.
While a rate cut is largely expected, there remains a possibility that the cut could be larger, amounting to 50 basis points.
