“A majority of these teachers will fill vacancies in their recruitment groups, ensuring that thousands of students receive lessons in their school groups or in the Pedagogical Zone Boards (QZP) to which they belong, many of which face significant hiring challenges,” the ministry stated in a release.
These educators are from subjects experiencing a shortage of professionals, specifically in the 1st Cycle of Basic Education, Portuguese in the 3rd Cycle and Secondary level, as well as Mathematics and Informatics at the same education levels.
“The identification of the teachers now returning to their schools was the result of a comparison, by recruitment group, between the schools’ needs and the teachers who remained in mobility within the Ministry of Education, Science, and Innovation services,” the statement reads.
The ministry assured that no teacher returning to their school or respective zone board will be geographically distanced from their current workplace.
