The computer system of the National Health Service (SNS) experienced issues starting from Wednesday and became completely non-operational overnight due to an update performed by NOS on the Health Information Network (RIS) software.
This update, according to the Shared Services of the Ministry of Health (SPMS), caused instabilities in the information systems, affecting some health care support systems, particularly in the Electronic Medical Prescription (PEM).
Early in the morning, the National Federation of Doctors (FNAM) reported these issues, which prevented doctors from accessing patient records to make prescriptions and view exams, for example.
The problems affected hospitals and health centers, and by 12:15 PM, the system’s functionality was restored.
