“A heavy goods vehicle went off the road in the Vista Alegre area of Tarouquela, on the descent to Nespereira, and rolled around 100 meters into the ravine,” reported Paulo Soares.
The commander of the Nespereira Volunteer Firefighters in Cinfães stated that “the two occupants were trapped and transported in serious condition to the hospital, with the driver in a more severe state.”
The driver, a 37-year-old man, and his 22-year-old assistant were on a route to supply butcher shops in Nespereira, as it was a meat transport vehicle.
The alert was received at 09:13, according to the Tâmega e Sousa Sub-regional Command. At the site, located in the parish of Nespereira, Cinfães municipality, Viseu district, there were 19 operatives, supported by six vehicles and an air unit.
“The air unit was called but ultimately not needed, as we were able to reach the location via a small path,” added Paulo Soares.
