“It is a forest and bush fire, and no locality is at risk,” stated a source from the Viseu Dão Lafões Sub-regional Command of Civil Protection.
The alert was raised at 5:50 PM in Caselho, located in the parish of Guardão, within the Caramulo mountain area, in the municipality of Tondela, Viseu district.
As of 7:15 PM, 229 operatives were fighting the blaze, supported by 59 vehicles and seven aerial units, according to information available on the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC) website.
