The CDS-PP of Vila Franca de Xira organized a “garraiada” event this weekend. Paulo Núncio was one of the main figures of the event, promising to be actively involved.
This meant the party’s parliamentary leader and candidate for the Vila Franca de Xira City Council challenged himself to perform a “pega.” However, it did not go as well as he might have hoped.
In images captured at the venue and shared on the party’s Facebook page, as well as by Núncio himself, the politician is shown being struck by a calf, ending up on the ground of the Tentadero do Cabo arena.
Despite the mishap, he did not hesitate to remark that it was “a very enjoyable afternoon.”
“As announced, the candidate attempted to tackle a calf,” reads the post by the party, which, despite making light of the incident, faced criticism from animal rights advocates.
“Should be ashamed of promoting animal torture!!” commented one user, while another stated that the politician “only experienced the consequences of his own decisions. I hope the calf is alright because it is not to blame!”
Paulo Núncio is a candidate in the municipal elections on October 12.
