
The fire in the municipality of Lagos is currently active in two areas, but there are no populations or homes at risk. “There are no casualties,” reported a representative from the Algarve’s Sub-Regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection.
Residents evacuated on Sunday as a precaution in the village of Barão de São João have returned to their homes.
“The wind calmed overnight, aiding in firefighting efforts, although an increase in wind activity is expected this morning. As of 8:00 AM, 513 personnel are on-site, supported by 181 vehicles, 10 bulldozers, and seven aerial units,” stated the representative.
In Aljezur, within the Faro district where the fire originated, conditions improved as the fire moved toward Lagos, leaving only a mildly active front.
