The Porto Territorial Command of the GNR announced that an arrest related to a domestic violence case was made on Friday. At the scene, officers discovered the suspect was committing verbal, physical, and psychological abuse against his partner. During the intervention, the suspect made threats and insulted the victim, leading to his immediate arrest.
Emergency medical services were called to provide support and assistance to the victim. The arrested individual was brought before the Lousada Judicial Court and has been remanded in custody at the Custoias Prison in Matosinhos.
This police action was reinforced by the Freamunde Territorial Post and the Porto Investigation and Support Nucleus for Specific Victims (NIAVE), with support from the Paços de Ferreira Volunteer Firefighters.
The GNR highlights that domestic violence is a public crime, emphasizing, “Reporting is a collective responsibility.”
