
The Prime Minister announced today an increase in the Municipal Tax on Onerous Property Transfers (IMT) for property purchases by non-resident citizens in Portugal, with exceptions for emigrants.
Luís Montenegro made the announcement during a meeting of the Council of Ministers held at his official residence in São Bento, delivering a statement without taking questions.
The government approved a series of measures aimed at addressing the housing crisis, some of which were previously disclosed on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister also announced today the exemption from the additional Municipal Property Tax (IMI) currently applied to properties rented out for up to 2,300 euros.
