Two individuals, a man and a woman aged 25 and 28, have been arrested by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) on strong suspicion of aggravated robbery, kidnapping, and causing grievous bodily harm in Santa Maria da Feira.
In a statement to the media this Thursday, the PJ detailed that the crime dates back to the early hours of August 31, when the suspects allegedly entered the home of a 36-year-old male victim, assaulting him and tying him to a chair while threatening him with a firearm.
“During the approximately two hours the victim was held in these conditions, the suspects searched the house and took various items valued at thousands of euros,” the authority stated.
Following the robbery, the suspects allegedly contacted the victim again “via social media,” to insult and threaten him “with the intention that he would not report the incident to the authorities.”
According to the PJ, subsequent investigations conducted by the Northern Directorate led to the seizure of evidence that strengthens the suspicions of the crimes committed.
The detainees will be presented to the competent judicial authority for an initial judicial interrogation and the imposition of appropriate preventive measures.
