The post-tropical depression Gabrielle is currently passing through the Azores archipelago. In the Western group – Flores and Corvo – the storm appears to have passed without causing damage; however, in the Central and Eastern groups, nearly six dozen incidents have been recorded.
The Azores Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service (SRPCBA) reported in a statement released around 8 a.m. that 59 incidents have been recorded since midnight today. Of these, 22 were registered on the island of Faial, 10 in São Jorge, nine in Pico, nine in Terceira, six in Graciosa, and three in São Miguel.
According to SRPCBA, it was necessary to relocate four people (three on the island of Faial and one on Graciosa). So far, no injuries have been reported.
“The majority of reported situations are related to the falling of trees, falling of structures, and damage to roofs/ceilings,” they stated.
