Francisco Gomes has been elected as a deputy for the Madeira electoral circle for Chega in the current and previous legislature. He was previously elected in the 12th legislature for PSD.
This nomination is subject to approval by the deputies. The election, conducted by secret ballot, will be held until 12:00 in the Senate Room, as announced by the President of the Assembly of the Republic at the start of the plenary session.
On Monday, the Chega parliamentary group announced that Deputy Gabriel Mithá Ribeiro requested to resign from his mandate, to be replaced by Rui Fernandes, although the reasons for this decision were not disclosed.
Mithá Ribeiro was elected as a deputy in the 15th, 16th, and 17th legislatures, consistently representing the Leiria district, and was reappointed as secretary of the Assembly of the Republic’s board last June after the early legislative elections.
