
This advisory body, chaired by Luís Mira Amaral, consists of 15 key figures from the business and academic sectors.
The initial meeting discussed several issues, including the demographic challenge and reforms in labor legislation, state governance, and the tax system, according to a statement. On the latter topic, the council emphasized the urgent need for process simplification to make the “state machinery” more agile and flexible.
Another major topic was the design of an industrial policy model, with a reaffirmation of AEP’s proposal to create a strong support program for the industry, which is essential to strengthening national production capacity.
Additionally, the meeting focused on implementing a competitive energy policy, corporate resizing, and executing the PRR, particularly concerning mobilizing agendas.
The body plans to produce information and recommendations to present effective proposals to the government.
