A 34-year-old man was arrested on the morning of September 23 aboard an aircraft that landed at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon due to his aggressive behavior during the flight.
The Public Security Police (PSP) intervened after receiving a report of aggressive conduct from a passenger on the flight, causing the aircraft to divert to Humberto Delgado Airport.
The crew reported that the passenger ignored instructions during the flight, consumed alcoholic beverages despite warnings, attempted to assault a crew member, and endangered the safety of the aircraft, crew, and other passengers.
Upon police arrival, the PSP noted that the individual had already been restrained by the crew and was handed over in detention, being transported to police facilities for legal procedural actions.
“Due to the state of intoxication and injuries caused by handcuffs during restraint, a medical team was dispatched to the scene, and the passenger was subsequently taken under custody to São José Hospital for clinical evaluation, with suspicion of substance use,” the security force reported.
The detainee has since appeared before the competent judicial authority for a first judicial interrogation and has been subjected to a measure of coercion of Identity and Residence.
