According to a statement from the Regional Command of the Public Security Police (PSP) in the Azores, a police operation took place following an investigation in the municipalities of Ponta Delgada, Lagoa, and Ribeira Grande on the island of São Miguel, which involved seven residential and three non-residential searches.
This operation, launched on Wednesday, resulted in obtaining evidence indicating five suspects involved in the trafficking of heroin, hashish, and synthetic drugs, which have been sold to numerous addicted consumers.
The PSP disclosed the seizure of “5,000 individual doses of heroin, 90 doses of hashish, a cannabis plant, synthetic drugs, cash, a high-powered vehicle, and various telecommunications equipment.”
As part of this investigation, four men and one woman were arrested, although “two of these suspects had already been detained in July, found in possession of 742 doses of hashish and cash.”
The police source further reported that “two of the detainees are repeat offenders and underwent non-judicial interrogation, while the other three were subject to an initial judicial interrogation for the application of preventive measures, resulting in pre-trial detention.”
The police operation included the collaboration of the K9 Operational Group of the Special Police Unit and involved the participation of the Technical and Forensic Police Section from the Regional Command of the Azores.
