A teacher was arrested on Friday on suspicion of abusing a 14-year-old girl in a school setting, involving “child prostitution and pornography,” as reported by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) on Saturday.
The accusation arose this year following reports that the suspect, a middle school teacher, had been charged and temporarily suspended from duties for sexual crimes committed in a classroom context.
In light of this report, PJ received an anonymous tip-off describing similar offenses committed by the suspect in 2020 against a 14-year-old student at that time.
The PJ noted that the 53-year-old man exploited “his position of clear trust and authority over the minor” to carry out “significant sexual acts with the student, providing compensation and using her in pornographic recordings, which he possessed and distributed.”
The Lisbon and Tagus Valley Directorate of the PJ initiated an investigation, which allowed for the identification of the victim and the collection of “personal and digital evidence, particularly through searches and computer forensic examinations conducted with the support of the Technological and Computer Expertise Unit.”
The detainee will appear for an initial judicial interrogation to determine the imposition of coercive measures.
