“This municipality deserves a new will, a new energy, a new leadership. This municipality does not need recycled leadership, it needs a new leadership, a new force, and a new will, which is the will of Fernando José,” stated José Luís Carneiro during the campaign dinner speech in Setúbal.
The local election race in the municipality features, among other candidates, the return of former CDU mayor Maria das Dores Meira, who is now running as an independent candidate supported by the PSD.
The PS leader expressed “utmost confidence” in the project led by the head of the PS list for Setúbal, Fernando José, believing that there is a “wave of victory and change” that will propel the socialist to the presidency.
José Luís Carneiro mentioned, “Fernando José’s political proposal has the right political priorities.”
“The first priority is health. Health is also our main priority. It is unacceptable that a municipality like Setúbal lacks qualified gynecology and pediatrics services. You can count on our voice in the Assembly of the Republic to defend this priority,” he criticized.
Another priority for the PS candidate for the Setúbal Council is housing.
“The future president of the Setúbal council will have full support to ensure that his priorities receive national backing from all our deputies, MEPs, and all local authorities in the country, who will work to support projects that prioritize these two key areas,” he promised.
