The operation, named ‘Euro Control Route’, will be conducted from Monday to Sunday, focusing on “prevention, awareness, and intensive monitoring of tourist and passenger transport buses,” according to a statement from the National Directorate of PSP.
This action is part of the “European and national commitment to enhancing road safety” and will primarily target daily driving periods, breaks during continuous driving, rest periods (daily and weekly), as well as the “correct functioning of the control device (tachograph), including incidents and failures,” the police detail.
“Simultaneously, special attention will also be given to the technical conditions of the vehicles, which is a crucial factor for ensuring the safety of all public road users,” it adds.
The PSP notes that similar actions have in recent years uncovered “various infractions in the passenger transport sector.”
In 2023, there were 462 infractions recorded, while in 2024 the number reached 457 infractions, “highlighting the need to maintain and strengthen these monitoring actions,” it concludes.
