“An individual was detected with a sign offering apartment rentals and, on the reverse, a car rental advertisement,” stated the regional authority in a communiqué, emphasizing this as “an activity outside legal parameters.”
The situation is under investigation by the Directorate of Tourism Enterprises and Activities (DSEAT), and the Institute for Mobility and Transport (IMT) has been notified of the occurrence.
In a letter sent to the IMT, the Regional Directorate of Tourism warns that “this situation represents not only a violation of legislation applicable to the transport and mobility sector, but also unfair competition against duly licensed companies, in addition to potentially compromising the safety of users.”
The intervention of the Regional Economic Activities Authority (ARAE) has also been requested in terms of inspecting the legal exercise of activity (tourist rentals) or deceptive advertising.
“Considering the location in question, with high visibility and tourist traffic, the rapid action of ARAE is essential to ensure compliance with the law and safeguard consumer rights,” emphasized the Regional Directorate of Tourism.
