
According to data from the Domestic Violence Portal, overseen by the Commission for Equality and Citizenship (CIG), six individuals—five women and one man—were killed in the second quarter of this year due to domestic violence.
Since the beginning of the year, a total of 13 people have died as victims of domestic violence, with the majority being women (11).
During the same period, the PSP and GNR recorded 7,713 incidents, a 9.3% increase from the 7,056 complaints registered in the first quarter, but 0.3% lower than the corresponding period in 2024.
Regarding support measures for domestic violence victims, there were 5,939 people with teleassistance measures, 81 more than in the first quarter of 2025.
Moreover, 1,401 individuals were accommodated in the National Network of Support for Domestic Violence Victims (RNAVVD), including 733 women, 643 children, and 25 men.
The need to transport victims arose in 231 situations, involving a total of 392 people, comprising 229 women, 160 children, and two men.
In the second quarter of 2025, there were 1,461 inmates serving sentences for domestic violence, including 395 in pre-trial detention and 1,066 serving prison sentences.
Additionally, of the 1,225 individuals under coercive measures, 922 had electronic bracelets, while 303 did not have electronic monitoring.
Furthermore, 2,924 offenders were integrated into specific programs, 230 of whom were in prison, with the remaining 2,694 in the community.
