PSP arrested one person and identified 25 in an operation in downtown Lisbon

An official from the PSP stated that the “general objective” of today’s operation in the downtown area of Lisbon is to “increase the sense of security” for citizens, focusing particularly on combating drug trafficking, informal street vending, checking establishments, and the legal or illegal stay of foreign citizens.

The same source indicated that this is a routine operation, and no arrest warrants are involved.

From the operation, the PSP reported that 25 individuals were identified, and one person was arrested for disobedience to a notification to leave, having previously been expelled from the country for being illegal but failing to comply.

Public Security Police officers also seized 93 packets of tobacco, valued at approximately 372 euros, a knife found in a bag among the individuals checked, four bags of clothing for distribution, and four bags of prepared food.

The PSP issued two citations for street vending without prior communication, 147 kilograms of accumulated garbage affecting public health, and notified a foreign national for deportation.

Of the three establishments inspected, the PSP noted infractions for the absence of a complaints book and working hours map, selling products without displayed prices, lack of fire extinguishers, and inadequate working conditions.
