Video. Young man detained after ‘rampage’ at Lisbon Airport (destroyed cars)

A 21-year-old man was arrested on Monday after causing disturbances and damaging vehicles in the parking lot of Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon.

The incident occurred on the morning of Monday, the 29th, when officers from the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police (Cometlis) were dispatched to the scene following reports of the disturbance.

“Upon arrival, it was observed that the suspect was on top of a vehicle, uttering incoherent phrases and displaying behavior suggestive of mental disarray, posing a risk to his physical integrity, that of others, and public property,” detailed the statement released by authorities on Thursday.

According to Cometlis, the suspect was “ordered to come down from the vehicle, which he complied with.” However, “once on the ground, he resumed aggressive behavior, hurling insults at the police officers.”

The suspect was then warned to “moderate his language and demeanor,” to which he responded by advancing towards the officers, attempting to resist lawful orders.

In response to his actions, immobilization and handcuffing techniques were immediately applied, and he was arrested. The young man was brought before a court, which imposed the Termo de Identidade e Residência as a coercive measure.

It is noteworthy that images circulating on social media show destroyed cars in a parking lot, seemingly located at the Lisbon airport and linked to this incident. You can view them in the gallery above.
