The National Health Service (SNS) issued a warning this Friday about the circulation of fraudulent messages using its name and that of SNS 24, concerning alleged outstanding payments.
“Fraud: if you receive an SMS in the name of SNS or SNS 24, asking for payments via a reference number or containing links, delete the message. The SMS is fake,” stated the organization in a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The entity noted that “the situation has already been reported to the authorities” and urged the public to “always report scams or frauds to the relevant authorities.”

The Local Health Unit (ULS) Viseu Dão-Lafões also warned this Friday about the spread of messages in the name of the SNS regarding “amounts owed for emergency services, which should be paid within five days.”
“These SMS contain a link that, when clicked, directs users to a fraudulent webpage, where a reference number is provided for payment, and upon clicking confirm, users are asked to fill in personal and bank card information,” it warned.

The health institution mentioned that the messages aim to “induce recipients to provide personal and bank information with the objective of gaining financial advantage.”
“ULS Viseu Dão-Lafões does not issue payments via SMS, and we urge the community that, if they receive a similar message, not to access the link, make any payment, or provide any personal or banking data. Do not respond, do not click, and immediately delete the message,” it emphasized.
