“I am completely calm, although absolutely astonished and even outraged by the nature of the news, which, if coming from someone involved in the process, constitute a situation that is a disgrace, procedurally and democratically disloyal, which is intolerable and which I do not accept in any way”, reacted the PSD president on Tuesday night while campaigning in Albufeira.
Earlier, it was reported that prosecutors and PJ elements want the PGR to open a criminal investigation to deepen investigations into the company Spinumviva. In a statement, the PGR clarified that the preventive investigation is underway and the Public Prosecutor’s Office “is still awaiting documentation that will need to be analyzed”.
Today, in the early afternoon in Castelo Branco, the PSD president was again questioned by journalists about the controversy surrounding the preventive investigation of Spinumviva by the PGR. He conveyed a message: Just as he should provide all clarifications directly to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, he also expects this body to communicate with him directly and not through the press.
The PS secretary-general, José Luís Carneiro, reacted cautiously to this case, stating that “the prime minister should provide the explanations authorities request when the time comes”.
“In these matters, the most important thing is to maintain a sense of state. A sense of state is to trust the justice institutions, trust justice, and avoid hasty actions”, he asserted.

The PS secretary-general stated today that he maintains trust in justice and that the prime minister should provide explanations about the Spinumviva case when requested, urging to avoid precipitate actions.

In contrast to the socialist secretary-general, leaders from the PCP, Livre, and Bloco de Esquerda opposed Luís Montenegro’s criticism of the timing of justice concerning his family company case.
“If the prime minister is trying to raise suspicions about the timing of Justice, he must take that responsibility on and will have to answer for it”, declared Paulo Raimundo this morning in Beja during a CDU action, after advocating that Luís Montenegro should have resigned from the prime minister’s position before the legislative elections.

The PCP secretary-general reiterated today that the prime minister should have resigned before the legislative elections when news about Spinumviva emerged, anticipating that the case “will unfortunately continue for a long time”.

In Oeiras, in the district of Lisbon, the Livre spokesperson, Rui Tavares, accused the prime minister of not being able to “maintain a consistent story from beginning to end”. In the same campaign action, the Bloco de Esquerda coordinator, Mariana Mortágua, considered that the Spinumviva case will haunt Luís Montenegro and his credibility.

The Livre spokesperson today accused the prime minister of not being able to “maintain a consistent story from beginning to end” and of having “a not very serious case with the truth” in reaction to the news about the Spinumviva company.

In Sabugal, in the district of Guarda, the Chega president criticized Luís Montenegro for “dragging the situation” concerning the Spinumviva company by not providing all clarifications and warned that he cannot receive privileged treatment due to his role as prime minister.
“We continue to have in the country a prime minister who is under suspicion of serious crimes. These are serious crimes, crimes of integrity regarding the exercise of public office”, stated André Ventura.

This line of criticism by Chega was not followed by the Liberal Initiative president, Mariana Leitão. In Paços de Ferreira, in the district of Porto, she defended the thesis that the PGR, officially, does not seem to intend to move forward with opening a criminal investigation into the Spinumviva company’s activity.
Mariana Leitão also requested that there be no “type of interference” in the Public Prosecutor’s actions regarding the Spinumviva case and expressed respect for the ongoing investigations.

The leader of the Liberal Initiative (IL) today called for no “type of interference” in the Public Prosecutor’s actions regarding the Spinumviva case and expressed respect for the ongoing investigations.
