The diamonds auctioned during SODIAM’s 15th electronic auction were produced by the mining companies SOMILUANA, Lulo, Kaixepa, Mussende, Chitotolo, Calonda, and Catoca.
In a statement, the Angolan company highlighted that $16.9 million was raised from the sale of 1,529.8 carats, a result that exceeded the expected value by 9.14% overall.
According to SODIAM’s executive director, José Silva, quoted in the statement, the market shows a “negative trend in terms of demand and prices (…), but due to the specificity of some stones on sale, the result was relatively better than anticipated.”
The company noted that the current auction format has gained increasing trust from mining companies and buyers due to the transparency of the process.
