
The government has unveiled its 2026 budget allocation for the Ministry of Environment and Energy, indicating a total consolidated expenditure of 2.4953 billion euros, representing a 4.9% increase from the estimated spending for the current year.
The effective consolidated expenditure amounts to 2.4453 billion euros, which is 13.2% higher than the 2025 estimate.
The total consolidated revenue for 2026 is set at 2.5105 billion euros.
The government highlights current transfers totaling 1.8086 billion euros, with 758.1 million euros related to the Environmental Fund, and sales of goods and services amounting to 604 million euros, of which the Environmental Fund collects 503.6 million euros through auctions conducted under the European Emission Trading System (a mechanism regulating greenhouse gas emissions).
The total consolidated expenditure of over 2.49 billion euros is mainly supported by transfers, particularly 1.6726 billion euros in transfers from the Environmental Fund. Notably, significant funds are allocated through the Incentiva + TP Program under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, promoting sustainable mobility.
“The Environment and Energy budget program includes specific appropriations for earmarked revenue transfers totaling 548.7 million euros. Within the specific appropriation concerning the tax on petroleum products, amounting to 496.7 million euros, significant transfers from the Environmental Fund are directed to the Incentiva + TP Program, valued at 439.2 million euros,” states the Government document.
