In statements to journalists before 9:00 PM, upon arriving at the hotel where he will monitor the election night in Lisbon, André Ventura stated that “Chega has already won municipal councils” and today becomes “a party of local election victories.”
According to the leader of Chega, the party is expected to be the most voted in the municipalities of São Vicente, Madeira, Moita, Setúbal district, and Entroncamento, Santarém district. At the time of Chega’s president’s statements, official results were not yet available in these councils.
“This means it is a great victory for Chega, becoming a municipal party with victories in city councils,” he noted.
The president of Chega pointed out that in “the country’s major cities,” results are still being counted and reserved further reactions for a later time.
