Local elections: PAN celebrates the victory of coalitions in Coimbra and Sintra

From Porto, where she monitored the announcement of the results of these municipal elections, Inês de Sousa Real noted the significant victory of Ana Abrunhosa, head of the PS, Livre, and PAN coalition, in Coimbra, and Marco Almeida, head of the PPD/PSD, Liberal Initiative, and PAN coalition, in Sintra. She remarked that these are “two municipalities where PAN will have the opportunity to make a difference and also influence municipal policies.”

“On the other hand, we lost some representations. But overall, the balance is evidently positive, not only from this municipal work but also in what will be a policy of proximity,” added the PAN spokesperson.

Inês de Sousa Real further asserted that voters favored coalitions, “with an expectation from the electorate for greater capacity for dialogue and work bridges between various political parties,” citing Sintra and Coimbra as examples.

These victories that PAN achieved through coalitions demonstrate, according to Inês de Sousa Real, “very clearly, that parties must reinvent themselves and understand that there is now another expectation from people, who do not care whether parties are left or right to solve their problems.”

With the results for the Lisbon City Council still to be fully tallied, but with Carlos Moedas assuming victory in these municipal elections, the PAN spokesperson also wanted to express gratitude to Alexandra Leitão, head of the “Viver Lisboa” (PS/Livre/BE/PAN) coalition, for the “absolutely extraordinary work she has done over these months.”
