The group has announced that the deal, for which no financial details were disclosed, follows Lacasa’s initial investment in the Moroccan company’s capital in 2020. This move is described as a “decisive step in the group’s expansion and its ability to meet new international market demands.”
With an annual turnover of around six million euros, Lucar focuses on the production and marketing of cocoa-derived products, including spreads, tablets, and cocoa powder.
The company has been solidifying its presence in the Moroccan market, ensuring the quality and adaptation of its products to local preferences, according to the statement.
“Its strategic location in Tangier and the high operational capacity of the factory will allow the Lacasa group to strengthen its proximity to international clients, optimizing service and logistical operations,” the statement highlights.
Quoted in the statement, Manuela Tavares de Sousa from Lacasa’s executive board in Portugal said that this acquisition “reflects the Lacasa group’s vision to grow sustainably and close to consumers” and “reinforces the importance of Portugal for the brand.”
She explains that Portugal acts as “a strategic contact point between the European market and the African continent, which is essential for the company’s operations, whether in cocoa sourcing or production.”
“The international investment consolidates the group’s global growth and simultaneously strengthens our operation in the Portuguese market, where we continue to focus on innovation and emotional connection with consumers,” she emphasizes.
Founded in Spain, the Lacasa group is a family-run business with 173 years of history, specializing in the production of chocolates, sweets, and other confectionery products.
Currently, it is present in 50 countries, including Portugal, with a portfolio that includes brands such as Lacasitos, Conguitos, Mentolin candies, and Lacasa chocolate bars and truffles.
