
The analysis of election results reveals that the Socialist Party (PS), aside from Lisbon where they secured 90,068 votes, saw significant voting figures in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto with 54,526 votes, Sintra, Lisbon with 51,501 votes, and Porto securing 40,898 votes, despite losses in these municipalities.
Loures in Lisbon, with 40,020 votes, emerges as the most populous municipality won by the PS, followed by several municipalities north of the Tagus River, including Guimarães in Braga with 37,747 votes, Matosinhos in Porto with 37,266 votes, Leiria with 37,069 votes, Gondomar in Porto with 31,096 votes, and Coimbra with 29,511 votes.
The municipalities with the lowest voting figures include Corvo in the Azores with 156 votes, Vila de Rei in Castelo Branco with 267 votes, São Vicente in Madeira with 289 votes, Sernancelhe in Viseu with 298 votes, Santa Cruz in the Azores with 305 votes, Barrancos in Beja with 356 votes, Carrazeda de Ansiães in Bragança with 376 votes, Porto Santo in Madeira with 384 votes, and Redondo in Évora with 394 votes.
The Social Democratic Party (PSD), including coalitions with various forces, elected the most mayors, securing 136 in the recent local elections, according to provisional results from the Ministry of Internal Administration.
The PS came in second, winning 126 municipalities independently and two more in coalition with the Livre and PAN parties. Citizen Groups won the presidency in 20 municipalities, while the CDU secured 12.
The CDS/PP elected six mayors independently, and Chega won in three municipalities.
