A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of committing domestic violence last Thursday, October 9, in the Braga municipality.
In a statement released on Monday, the National Republican Guard (GNR) indicated that the man was detained “in response to a domestic violence complaint,” and officers “went to the location” to conduct “police procedures.”
It was discovered that “the suspect exerted psychological violence on his parents, aged 81 and 78.”
Additionally, it was determined that the man “had attempted to start a fire in the residence while threatening the victims with a bladed weapon.”
The GNR’s action resulted in the suspect’s arrest in flagrante delicto and the seizure of the weapon.
After appearing before the Braga Judicial Court, the man was subjected to the most severe coercive measure – preventive detention.
