The Centro Social Vale do Homem (CSVH) announced today that a new facility represents a significant milestone in promoting inclusion and autonomy for individuals with disabilities, marking a new chapter in their mission to support this group.
In September, it was reported that this new social resource was ready to operate since August but had been delayed pending the installation of an electrical connection by E-Redes, which has now been completed.
The Casa Mãe — Quinta do Senhor, with an investment of approximately 3.5 million euros, of which 1.2 million was funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), is described as an “innovative project in the region.”
“Combining modernity, quality, and humanity in supporting individuals with disabilities, the surrounding area includes a teaching garden, a small animal interaction area, and a tree plantation, designed as tools for inclusion, learning, and well-being,” CSVH explains.
The new structure includes a Center for Activities and Capacity Building for Inclusion (CACI) and four Residences for Autonomization and Inclusion (RAI), “forming an integrated ecosystem of social responses that promote autonomy, skill development, and full integration of individuals with disabilities into the community.”
The CACI will develop programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing personal, social, and professional skills, fostering well-being, autonomy, and full community participation.
The Casa Mãe — Quinta do Senhor has the capacity to accommodate 40 residents and employs about 30 staff members, including central services and specialized technicians of CSVH.
“Casa Mãe symbolizes care, proximity, and commitment. It is a space created to support, empower, and transform lives. This project reflects CSVH’s mission: to be present, with humanity and purpose, where inclusion happens,” says Jorge Pereira, president of Centro Social Vale do Homem, in the statement.
Jorge Pereira highlights that “this new structure marks a decisive step for CSVH,” reinforcing its role as a “differentiating and active institution in the area of social inclusion.”
“More than growing in size, we grow in purpose — and that purpose is to ensure no one is left behind,” emphasizes the CSVH president.
The new building of Casa Mãe — Quinta do Senhor will also enable the centralization of CSVH’s central services in one location, “promoting more cohesive, efficient, and closer management.”
“With Casa Mãe — Quinta do Senhor, the Centro Social Vale do Homem reinforces its identity as a reference institution in social innovation and the inclusion of individuals with disabilities. More than a new space, this is a new way of engaging with the community — a structure that reflects CSVH’s commitment to act with dignity, quality, and humanity, promoting autonomy, participation, and future for all,” the statement further notes.
