The minister was speaking at the parliamentary committee on State Reform and Local Power, during a regular hearing.
Gonçalo Matias acknowledged the “serious difficulties in obtaining identifications for children, particularly for them to be able to travel […] especially during the summer and Christmas periods.”
He noted that the waiting time was “over a year” and has now been reduced to two weeks, highlighting this as proof of the State reform.
“Through our initiative, we have already reduced the waiting period, which was over a year, to about two weeks. So, at this moment, under normal conditions, it takes no more than two weeks to obtain children’s identification,” said the minister.
