Three deaths occurred within just over 24 hours in the Greater Lisbon area: a young Portuguese man, an Irish citizen, and an American tourist.
The first incident took place on Monday night in Barreiro when a young man between 18 and 22 years old was shot dead in the town of Lavradio. According to the Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP), the crime occurred around 10:50 PM, involving a firearm that hit the victim in the upper chest area, close to the neck.
The Barreiro Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) arrived at 11:09 PM, assisted the victim, and confirmed the death at 11:12 PM. A witness reported hearing shots and then saw two people running down the street, with one falling while the other asked for help and continued running.
The other two cases were discovered on Wednesday morning.
First, a 26-year-old Irish man was found dead with head injuries in the old Casal Ventoso area of Lisbon.
The PSP was called at 8:50 AM to Costa Pimenta Street via the Emergency Patients Guidance Center (CODU) of INEM, and the man was found in the street with “head injuries”.

Meanwhile, in Cascais, an American tourist died and another was injured during an attempted robbery, a PSP source revealed to Notícias ao Minuto.
The alert for two stabbings on the public road, in central Cascais, was given at 3:23 AM.
Upon arrival, INEM encountered two severely injured individuals, one “lying on the ground on his back, unconscious and with no evident signs of life”. Resuscitation efforts were made but were unsuccessful. The death was declared on Afonso Sanches Street, where the crime is believed to have taken place.
The Polícia Judiciária has since detained a suspect.
An American died and another was injured in the early hours of Wednesday following a stabbing in central Cascais. Three male suspects fled the scene but are reportedly now in custody.
