A fire broke out this Thursday in a residence in Chelas, Lisbon, without causing any injuries.
The Lisbon Fire Brigade explained to Notícias ao Minuto that the flames erupted shortly before 6 a.m. in the kitchen of a second-floor apartment, which was unoccupied at the time.
The alert was given by the building’s residents. According to the same source, some residents managed to leave the building before the firefighters arrived, while others were unable to do so.
The fire produced “a lot of smoke,” which spread through the area, but by 6:21 a.m., the fire was declared extinguished.
Around 7 a.m., emergency crews were conducting ventilation operations in the 14-story building.
