“I hope to soon be able to say that our goals have been achieved and that it is a night of victory,” stated Mariana Leitão upon arriving at the headquarters of IL in Porto, where she will monitor the results.
There are several municipalities where “the probabilities are very favorable for Iniciativa Liberal, where the campaigns were very good, and where our candidates dedicated themselves in an exemplary manner,” said the liberal leader, who believes in the election of councilors beyond the candidacies where IL is allied with the PSD.
“I am very confident that in Braga we will have an extraordinary result, in other places too, such as Cascais and Setúbal, so we will wait until the end of the night to confirm,” added the IL leader, elected just a few months ago, who set the goal to triple the number of elected officials from 2021 (one parish president and 90 municipal deputies).
This was her first campaign as leader of IL, and Mariana Leitão is pleased with the work done, with a “belief in liberal ideas and an enormous desire to implement them” in the municipalities.
Describing herself as “super excited and in a great mood,” Mariana Leitão doesn’t feel it’s “that different” to watch the results as a leader.
“Even as a member, as a party cadre, there is always a huge expectation regarding election nights,” she recalled.
Today, “my wish is that we achieve our objectives and celebrate victory in a few hours,” she added.
