António Leitão Amaro spoke at a press conference following the Council of Ministers meeting, addressing questions regarding President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s decision to enact the decree from the Assembly of the Republic. This decree modifies the legal framework governing the entry, stay, exit, and expulsion of foreigners from national territory.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa noted in his statement that the decree, reviewed and approved by 70% of the deputies, “minimally addresses the essential constitutional doubts that were raised by him and confirmed by the Constitutional Court.”
