The Ministry of Labor, Solidarity, and Social Security reported today that the deadline for the CTT/Reditus consortium to respond to a notification from the Social Security Institute (ISS) ended on October 14. On the same day, the Working Conditions Authority (ACT) conducted an inspection at the contact center.

The information indicates that two-thirds of the salaries have been paid (on October 7 and October 14), with the company striving to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, according to the statement.

The ministry also noted that upon learning of the consortium’s failure to pay salaries (responsible until September 30), the ISS sent a notification on October 6, reminding them of their responsibilities and legal obligations.

The consortium was given five days to settle the overdue salary payments under threat of being reported to the competent authorities.

The process will proceed with the relevant authorities, with the ISS monitoring the situation and available to assist within its competencies to ensure the consortium CTT/Reditus resolves the matter urgently.

The Ministry stated that the contract with the CTT/Reditus consortium for operating the Social Security Contact Center ended on September 30. From October 1, collaboration began with the company Synchro, following a public tender.

The transition of operation management between the two companies was completed without any service interruption, and the 150 employees at the forefront of the contact center retained their roles under the newly contracted management entity.

The ISS emphasized that payments to the consortium CTT/Reditus were always made within the established deadlines.

Employees at the Social Security contact center in Castelo Branco have not received full salaries for September, with only 33% of the wages paid. Unions have described the situation as “intolerable.”

A similar incident involving Reditus occurred in August 2024.

This issue, highlighted by the Democratic Union of Postal, Communications, Media, and Services Workers (Sindetelco), sparked reactions, notably from the mayor of Castelo Branco and the Socialist Party parliamentary group.

The mayor wrote to the prime minister requesting a prompt resolution for the unpaid wages of the contact center workers. He informed Luís Montenegro of his intention to also notify the Minister of Labor, Solidarity, and Social Security, Maria do Rosário Palma Ramalho, about the matter.

Meanwhile, ten Socialist Party deputies questioned the ministry over the unpaid wages at the Castelo Branco contact center, expressing concern over the serious violation of labor rights.
