” class=”ff-og-image-inserted”>A 38-year-old man wanted by Brazilian authorities for sexual abuse crimes has been arrested by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) in Aveiro.
The foreign national is accused of committing at least three crimes of child sexual abuse, involving incidents that occurred between February and August 2019, in a city within the Minas Gerais state in Brazil.
According to a PJ statement, the suspect, who was in a stable relationship with the victim’s mother and living in the same house, took advantage of the mother’s absence due to work to abuse the child, who was seven years old at the time the abuse began, deliberately engaging in significant sexual acts.
The PJ also indicates that, due to these acts, the man could face a prison sentence of 15 years.
The detained individual will be presented before the Tribunal da Relação do Porto for a decision and application of a preventive measure.
