“From today, we will experience a gradual change in the meteorological situation, becoming more significant by Sunday. Today remains a day with high temperatures, similar to those recorded in recent days,” stated the meteorologist from the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
According to Ângela Lourenço, starting on Saturday, a frontal system will approach, bringing weather changes including rain, stronger winds, and a decrease in maximum temperatures.
“Sunday will be a day with rain across almost the entire territory. The frontal system will traverse the territory from north to south, though regions such as Baixo Alentejo and Algarve may see less frequent rain,” she said.
The meteorologist from IPMA also forecast an increase in wind intensity, which will sometimes be strong along the coast north of Cabo Carvoeiro and in highlands.
“With this scenario, we will see a drop in temperature, especially the maximum, on Sunday. On average, changes of 5 to 7 degrees may occur, with some northern areas experiencing declines of up to 9 degrees,” she added, noting that minimum temperatures are not expected to change significantly.
Rain is forecasted to continue into the next week, but with variations.
“There will be periods or days when precipitation is less likely and others where it could occur across the entire territory. Next week will be characterized by precipitation in the north and center, though the southern region may be affected on a day or two,” she indicated.
By the end of next week, temperatures are expected to be around 23/24 degrees, and in northern regions, 19/20 degrees.
