PSP of Coimbra arrested four men (one of them for drug trafficking)

The suspect in a drug trafficking case, a 29-year-old man, was apprehended late Thursday morning in the Santo António dos Olivais area. Authorities seized 843.7 grams of marijuana, 334.26 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms, 15 cannabis plants, and 468 euros in cash, along with various materials associated with the cultivation and trafficking of this type of narcotic, according to a PSP statement.

The police reported that the suspect was approached during a patrol action and was found carrying 28.77 grams of marijuana and 388 euros.

“Upon being questioned about the possession of more narcotics, the suspect admitted to having more at his residence and consented to a house search, during which further seizures were made (additional marijuana, mushrooms, the remaining money, and various items connected to this type of illegal activity),” explained the PSP.

Another arrest, that of a 54-year-old man, previously reported, occurred at 09:45 on Thursday for assaulting a Public Ministry magistrate before a proceeding at the Department of Investigation and Penal Action (DIAP) of Coimbra, located on Rua da Sofia in the city’s center.

Also in downtown Coimbra, but at 22:20 on Thursday, a 43-year-old man was arrested for resisting and coercing a law enforcement officer.

“During a preventive policing operation, the police approached the individual and conducted a security frisk, discovering in his possession 15 doses of hashish and 11 of cocaine,” the PSP stated.

“During the police operation, the individual made several threats to the officer conducting the search,” leading to his arrest.

Later, in the early hours of today on Rua Antero de Quental, a 29-year-old man was arrested for driving with a blood alcohol level of 1.55 grams per liter.
