Three municipalities at maximum fire risk and about 100 at very high danger.

The IPMA has issued a warning for the municipalities of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo in the district of Guarda, Oliveira do Hospital, and Pampilhosa da Serra in the district of Coimbra.

According to the Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera, around one hundred municipalities in the northern and central inland regions and the Algarve are at very high risk of rural fires.

The wildfire risk determined by the IPMA has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum. Calculations are based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and the amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.

The IPMA forecasts for today show slightly cloudy or clear skies, gradually becoming very cloudy from mid-morning, moving from north to south, with a possibility of light and scattered rain on the North and Central coast starting late afternoon, more likely in Minho and Douro Litoral.

Winds will blow light to moderate, predominantly from the southern quadrant, at times strong (up to 40 km/h) in the Algarve mountains until the end of the morning, and in the northern highlands by the end of the day.

A slight rise in temperature is expected in the North and Center coast, especially the maximum temperature.

Maximum temperatures will range between 21 degrees Celsius in Guarda to 30 in Santarém, Setúbal, and Évora.
