A distress call was received at 03:10, prompting the deployment of a life-saving boat from Aveiro’s Lifeboat Station to the scene.
“The victim was subsequently rescued and transported by the crew of Aveiro’s Lifeboat Station to the Cais do Canal das Barcas, in Forte da Barra, at around 08:30, where members of the Ílhavo Volunteer Fire Department were on standby to convey the individual to a hospital,” the statement noted.
The Navy further disclosed that personnel from Aveiro’s Local Maritime Police Command took responsibility for the incident, coordinating with a member from GNR’s Coastal and Border Control Unit to carry out the necessary procedures.
