The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) conducted inspections on herbal shops, ‘natural products’ stores, para-pharmacies, supermarkets, as well as websites and social media pages dedicated to the online sale of dietary supplements, examining a total of 127 economic operators.
The objective of the national operation carried out by ASAE’s regional units was to verify the applicable legal standards and identify fraudulent practices in the marketing and labeling of dietary supplements.
The main violations detected in the operation included non-compliance with sales advertisement rules regarding price reduction and failure to adhere to mandatory labeling requirements for foodstuffs.
Labeling non-compliance also led to the seizure of 150 units of dietary supplements.
