The 3rd Class of Permanent Staff Enlisted Course of the Portuguese Army concluded unexpectedly at the Escola das Armas in Mafra. The land branch of the Armed Forces reported that one of the course members, “in an unexpected and moving moment,” proposed to his girlfriend.
“The closure of the 3rd Permanent Staff Enlisted Course was marked by pride, discipline, and a sense of mission accomplished. In an unexpected and moving moment, one of the trainees surprised everyone with a marriage proposal,” read a post shared on social media this Sunday.
This gesture, noted the Army, “showed that commitment to the mission is strengthened when there is love, support, and unity.”
“Shared among comrades and family, this moment highlighted that a soldier’s strength also reflects emotional and family stability, essential pillars in service to the Homeland,” it added.
The Ingress Ceremony for the 3rd Permanent Staff Enlisted Training Course took place on October 10 at the Escola das Armas in Mafra and was presided over by the Chief of the Army Staff, General Eduardo Mendes Ferrão.
A total of 112 soldiers “successfully completed” the “demanding journey” that marks the start of a career in the Permanent Staff of the Portuguese Army.
